Pettengill Points to Workforce Development Centers for Workers
12/29/2008
(DES MOINES)—Today Rep. Dawn Pettengill released information regarding the Iowa Workforce Development (IWD) program as a way for laid-off workers to get back on their feet.
“Everyone knows the economic climate has been on the downturn over the past few months,” said Pettengill. “For those who are struggling without work, there are options that offer a hand up, not a hand out.”
According to their website, Iowa Workforce Development links job placement and skill development and offers resources and services for both employers, employees and the unemployed.
IWD also offers workshops, retraining and education at their regional offices. They will also provide assistance with updating resumes and creating cover letters.
For more information about the Iowa Workforce Development and their programs visit, www.iowaworkforce.org. Pettengill also points to the state job database at www.iowajobs.org as another resource for unemployed Iowans to easily search more than 14,500 job openings.
