Dear Friends and Neighbors, Fourth of July weekend is coming up and I hope all of you have a safe and fun weekend. Van Horne is celebrating their 125th anniversary and the festivities begin on Friday with their parade on Saturday. Marengo's celebration starts on Monday with their parade in the late afternoon. Belle Plaine's Fourth of July celebration is on the 4th and their parade is in the morning and finally Dysart's Fourth of July parade is in the morning. I'll be able to make all but Dysart's. Didn't Dysart's parade used to be in the afternoon? I thought we'd make that one, but this year the parade is the same time as Belle Plaine's! One more celebration for me this weekend will be my 51st birthday. I know! Watch what you say...I'm still young at heart!! Anyway, if you happen to see me, please take a moment to come up and introduce yourself. The fun of these events is seeing old friends and meeting new ones. One additional "news" item that did not make the newsletter: The special session to address the eminent domain issue is officially scheduled for July 14th. Hope to see you soon. Sincerely, Dawn Pettengill State Representative Iowa House District 39 "serving Benton and Iowa Counties"
