Illegal Immigration

Dear Friends and Neighbors,
I just received an email from a constituent who said my stand on illegal immigration was going to lose her vote and would cost farmers and agricultural jobs in Benton County.
Let's get this straight right now. I am a lawmaker. I am not for ANYTHING ILLEGAL!!! I believe we need to send the people home when we catch them. Our border means nothing because once the person crosses that line, they're home free. We've spent almost 400 billion dollars to secure another country, but the current administration saying we don't have the money to secure our own just doesn't float. And Employers who knowingly hire illegal immigrants need to be fined and our Immigration officials need to do their job. We also should embargo the heck out of Mexico until they start taking care of their own people.
With all of that said, for consistency, the federal government should be the lead on immigration reform, not the states. And maybe we do need to look at our guest worker program laws, but that is definitely federal.
We all know why people want to come here. We have a great country. But I cannot support anyone coming here illegally. Or for that matter, any other illegal activity.
